Coaching Program ResourcesFor success with an internal coaching program, plan the on-going support.  The support includes on-going buy-in, time, a budget, the logistics for coaching sessions, coaching tools, and resources for skill development.  The components for each of these areas is outlined here for easy use in your program plan and manual.

Support On-going Buy-in:

  1. Track results using:
    1. Evaluations
    2. Engagement Measures
    3. Productivity Numbers
    4. Turnover Costs
  2. Share success stories:
    1. Internal website or online bulletin board
    2. Company newsletter
    3. In meetings
  3. Continue to promote coaching as a benefit:
    1. Through HR in orientation and meetings
    2. In employee manuals
    3. In company publications
    4. At company events

Provide Time and a Budget:

  1. Time for:
    1. Planning
    2. On-going learning
    3. Training coaches
    4. Coachee sign-ups
    5. Matching coach with coachee
  2. Budget for:
    1. Time running the program and time coaching
    2. Training for coaches
    3. Learning materials
    4. Consulting
    5. External coaches
    6. Training for coachees working on skill development

Ensuring time and location for coaching (whether coaching is done face-to-face, online, or on the telephone):

  1. Provide private space
  2. Ensure time for coaching
  3. Coordinate scheduling

Assistance with coaching tools:

  1. Coaching questionnaires
  2. Goal-planning worksheets
  3. Self-assessment tools for coachees

Resources for skill development

  1. Access to LMS for self-directed learning
  2. Opportunity to take classes for skill development
  3. Library of materials to check-out for individually focused learning

Using this outline further define each component and then create your plan and budget.
