A Checklist for Goals

The L in GOALS = Listed

Life is busy for most people and powerful goal setting for results takes time and effort – it makes sense that it is easy to get off track.  Business, life, and executive coaches realize that the listing of goals and ‘to do’ items supports focus and staying on track for success.  Let’s explore options for your checklist because whether with a coach or here now, listing your actions increases follow-through.  This blog post is an approach that works for people preferring a big-picture, flexible approach.  The next post works well for those that prefer a more detailed process.

Using your list of gigantic goals with opportunities for achieving them that you analyzed, created by following this blog series, create a comprehensive checklist of ‘to do’ items.

The level of list building varies based on personal style – what works is different for each person.

Choose one or more of the following levels:

  • Monthly ‘to do’s’

This list includes all of the ‘‘to do’’ items you want to accomplish within the next month, and is left open-ended with the idea that as long as it is on the list you will take care of it.

  • Weekly ‘to do’s’

The next level of a list is to pull from the monthly ‘to do’ items and create a list of what you will accomplish each week.

  • Daily ‘to do’s’

Once a week, using your weekly schedule, list ‘to do’ items based on which day you will accomplish each.

Whether you prefer this approach or the one covered in the next blog post, as coaches realize understanding both provides value because knowledge is power, so follow this blog series and continue your progress to powerful goals setting for results.
