Many coaches know they deliver meaningful results. Their clients land jobs, earn promotions, make career pivots, and gain confidence. The harder part can be explaining what makes their coaching different, talking about their success without sounding sales-focused, and attracting a consistent flow of new clients.
In this 90-minute workshop, you will learn what brand positioning means in practice: making clear who you speak to, what you offer, and why your experience and perspective matter to that audience.
You will identify the audience you are best equipped to serve, clarify your offer, and develop direction for what to say and where to say it. You will also explore thought leadership, including how to choose topics and channels that communicate your value and how to move beyond generic AI-generated LinkedIn content that can make capable coaches sound interchangeable.
The workshop will also examine how a clear understanding of whom you serve can support better alignment and agreements with clients. You will consider language that communicates capability and empathy, reflect on the experience and needs that shape your best client fit, and translate that awareness into practical personal positioning.

Course Details
Artificial intelligence is already influencing the tools, workflows, recordings, transcripts, learning processes, and professional conversations that support coach development. For mentor coaches, these developments create opportunities to enhance learning and reflection while also raising important questions about ethics, confidentiality, consent, transparency, data use, and professional responsibility.
In “Use AI Ethically in Mentor Coaching,” the ICF Mentor Coaching Community of Practice will bring together Susan Caesar, ICF Director of Artificial Intelligence; Kristin Kelly, ICF Director of Ethics, Compliance and Culture; and Mentor Coaching Community of Practice leaders Lerae Gidyk, MCC, and Carly Anderson, MCC, for an interactive conversation about the responsible use of artificial intelligence in mentor coaching.
Rather than focusing on one specific AI platform or providing technical training, this session will examine the practical and ethical questions mentor coaches are encountering as AI becomes increasingly present in coaching and coach development. Participants will explore where AI-supported tools may be useful and where human judgment, presence, partnership, and discernment remain essential.
The session will consider practical applications of AI for areas such as reflection, preparation, feedback, transcripts, documentation, pattern recognition, and learning. Participants will also examine important considerations before using these tools, including how confidential information is handled, when consent may be needed, what should be disclosed, and how transparent agreements can support trust and responsible practice.
This Community of Practice session is intentionally designed as an interactive, community-driven learning experience. Questions gathered from mentor coaches in advance will help shape the conversation, giving ICF experts an opportunity to respond to the issues, concerns, and practical situations coaches are experiencing in their work. Participants will also be invited to contribute questions and reflections as the conversation develops.
Throughout the session, participants will consider how AI can support learning and development without replacing the relational and human-centered qualities that are fundamental to mentor coaching. The discussion will connect responsible AI use with relevant ICF Core Competencies, including Demonstrates Ethical Practice, Embodies a Coaching Mindset, Establishes and Maintains Agreements, Cultivates Trust and Safety, Maintains Presence, Listens Actively, and Evokes Awareness.
