Marcia McCaffery on Coaching Certification

I recall a famous quote by Goethe which states; “Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness, concerning all acts of initiative. Whatever you can dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it. Begin it now!”

I would add one addition line… ‘And hire a coach to help you bring your dreams to fruition!’
I think we can all agree that our society is focused on those who have gained prominence in their careers; whether it is in sports, entertainment, business or politics. The common denominator is that they hired a coach to help them excel. In view of this, should we expect any less for ourselves, as we push to attain our own personal goals, and dreams?

My direct experience with coaching came when I reached an impasse in my life. I had always considered myself ambitious and more than capable of manifesting my dreams. However, my life had changed. I was in transition, lacking the clarity needed to move forward. Procrastination became a roadblock and it was easy to become distracted and lose focus. I needed help.

While attending a local networking event, I met a woman who introduced herself as coach. It was then, that I decided to accept her invitation and experience the value of a coaching.

Through this experience, I realized that coaching is an action-oriented discipline, designed to keep the momentum going as you strive to achieve your goals. Commitment and accountability are the predominating features.

One year later, I was presented with an opportunity to become a coach through the Center for Coaching Certification. Once committed to the program, I was able to experience both sides of coaching. As I alternated between the roles of coach and being coached, I gained a comprehensive overview of the process.

By learning the practice of reflective listening, assertive communication, and Neuro-Linguistic programming, I was able to understand the value of building client-focused rapport. The more I could identify the specific personality types and their learning styles, the easier it was to determine how to motivate them. In addition, it was interesting to learn industry ethics.

In summary, I found that coaching unleashes the vast inner talent that exists in each of us. It holds us responsible for our own processes through structure, focus, and dedication. Progress is measurable and goals are attainable.

Being certified as a coach through the Center for Coaching Certification provides an umbrella for me to package all of my skills and talents. It also enhances my credibility in the marketplace. My first priority is to use my many years of specialized experience to help my clients find direction, identify their life purpose, and clarify their goals.

I highly recommend this coaching certification for anyone interested in nurturing their dreams. It is a worthwhile investment that provides lasting value.
