Training involves assessing needs based on objectives of an organization or profession.\u00a0 Next learning objectives are established, and content is developed.\u00a0 The training is the delivery of the content.\u00a0 It often includes learning activities and assessing or testing the learning.\u00a0 The trainer is the expert. \"The<\/p>\n

Mentoring is the passing of wisdom and experience from the mentor<\/a> to the mentee.\u00a0 It also often involves advice and helping with connections.\u00a0 The mentor is the expert.<\/p>\n

A consultant is gages to assess and analyze the status quo and then give advice on what to do or change.\u00a0 A consultant commonly provides a report and plan of action.\u00a0 The consultant is the expert.<\/p>\n

Coaching is, according to the International Coaching Federation<\/a>, \u201cpartnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.\u201d\u00a0 The client is the expert.<\/p>\n

The descriptions of each make it clear that they are listed in order.\u00a0 Start with training, move to mentoring, then consulting.\u00a0 Coaching<\/a> is last because it is advanced development for advanced results.<\/p>\n
