Demonstrates Ethical Practice: Definition: \u201cUnderstands and consistently applies coaching ethics and standards of coaching.\u201d \u00a0This is speaking to the complete <a href=\"https:\/\/coachingfederation.org\/ethics\/code-of-ethics\">Code of Ethics<\/a> and includes the information covered in the previous blogs.\u00a0 Competency 1.1 says \u201cdemonstrates personal integrity and honesty in interactions with clients, sponsors, and relevant stakeholders.\u201d\u00a0 In 1.2 it says to be sensitive to the clients\u2019 identity, environment, experiences, values, and beliefs. What is their identity? \u00a0What is their environment? \u00a0What are their experiences? \u00a0What are their values? \u00a0What are their beliefs? \u00a0There is so much to know and be aware of and this calls for taking time to explore the clients\u2019 world.\u00a0 It means really being open and interested, curious and wanting to know who they are as well as what the client wants.\u00a0 As a coach, it means getting to know the client, what they want, and where is it appropriate to explore.\u00a0 Be curious and interested &#8211; how is their identity playing into perceptions or opportunities? \u00a0How are their environment and experiences impacting their values and beliefs?\u00a0 These are influencers for them.\u00a0 To do good, we want to be sensitive to all these influencers and to support client awareness as well.<\/p>\n<p>Competency 1.3 says, \u201cuses language appropriate and respectful to clients, sponsors, and relevant stakeholders.\u201d \u00a0When we are sensitive to their identity, their values, and beliefs, we will be more aware of what language is appropriate because different words impact people differently. \u00a0As a coach, take time to learn what is respectful for the client.<\/p>\n<p>Come back for more in the next blog.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Which competencies specifically address diversity? \u00a0There are several \u2013 consider both the definitions from the competencies and the competency sub points.
