{"id":8803,"date":"2020-08-20T11:03:45","date_gmt":"2020-08-20T11:03:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/coachingblog\/?p=8803"},"modified":"2023-05-09T22:29:58","modified_gmt":"2023-05-09T22:29:58","slug":"coaching-for-diversity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/coachingblog\/coaching-for-diversity\/","title":{"rendered":"Coaching for Diversity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A go-to in many organizations when it comes to diversity is training.\u00a0 How successful has it been?\u00a0 Clearly the impact is limited.\u00a0 Just as coaching has a greater impact on results for change, coaching is the logical choice when it comes to expanding and <a href=\"https:\/\/trainingindustry.com\/articles\/leadership\/how-to-use-coaching-to-support-diversity-and-inclusion\/\">supporting diversity<\/a>. <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-8804 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/coachingblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Coaching-for-Diversity.gif\" alt=\"Coaching for Diversity\" width=\"251\" height=\"93\" \/><\/p>\n<p>There is now yet another call for diversity and it is an opportunity to make the same mistake, limit the initiatives to training, or an opportunity to ensure long-term meaningful impact with coaching because it works.<\/p>\n<p>The research makes coaching the obvious go-to for diversity.\u00a0 The challenge is that it is a new go-to.\u00a0 Let\u2019s set aside all the research and take a look at the very simple logic:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>When someone goes to a training program, they are done when they walk out the door. That means they will most likely revert make to their previous habits and process.<\/li>\n<li>When someone goes to a training program, whether or not they are inspired they will be limited by the status quo.<\/li>\n<li>Training is designed by someone else and so there is a lack of investment or ownership in the information.<\/li>\n<li>Coaching means being challenged to think and reflect on meaning and impact.
