Currently it is increasingly seen as self-regulating.\u00a0 This means the core competencies may be a future requirement if <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/about\/faqs\/commonly-asked-questions-with-answers.html#18\">ICF membership<\/a> is seen as the baseline for being a coach.<\/li>\n<li>If offering services as a professional coach, a lack of competency or training may increase liability.<\/li>\n<li>Competency requires training and practice to develop and maintain.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Application:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The ICF defines and promotes eleven core competencies.<\/li>\n<li>Clients ask about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/en\/training\/certified-professional-coach\/program-overview.html\">certification<\/a> to ensure competence.<\/li>\n<li>Quality service makes good business sense and benefits clients; competency is a basic requirement for quality.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Learning and developing the coaching competencies supports an effective coaching engagement.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Competencies are the skills identified as critical to the profession.\u00a0 The International Coach Federation defines and measures 11 Core Competencies for coaches.
