{"id":8307,"date":"2019-04-25T11:03:31","date_gmt":"2019-04-25T11:03:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/coachingblog\/?p=8307"},"modified":"2019-03-20T19:48:26","modified_gmt":"2019-03-20T19:48:26","slug":"coaching-to-prepare-for-negotiating","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/coachingblog\/coaching-to-prepare-for-negotiating\/","title":{"rendered":"Coaching to Prepare for Negotiating"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After working through the possibilities of her job offers and making her decision, Katrina wanted to work on negotiating her best deal.\u00a0 Per our initial agreement, we discussed coaching versus training versus consulting.\u00a0Katrina felt she had the book knowledge on negotiating and opted to stay engaged with coaching.\u00a0 Applying the powerful questioning techniques from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/en\/training.html\">coach training<\/a>, I asked Katrina:\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-8308 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/coachingblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/dreamstimemaximum_28797475.jpg\" alt=\"Coaching to Prepare for Negotiating \" width=\"207\" height=\"207\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>What does your research tell you about this offer?<\/li>\n<li>What are all the points of negotiation?<\/li>\n<li>How do you prioritize salary, benefits, future opportunities, time off, and time working remotely?<\/li>\n<li>What is your ideal offer?<\/li>\n<li>What is their ideal offer?<\/li>\n<li>How will you create a win\/win?<\/li>\n<li>When asking for more, how will you make your case?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Next on Katrina\u2019s list was planning how to turn the second offer down gracefully.\u00a0 Asking questions helped Katrina organize the information and write several responses to consider.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>What do you appreciate most about the offer you are turning down?<\/li>\n<li>What do you appreciate most about the people you interacted with?<\/li>\n<li>What do you appreciate about the company?<\/li>\n<li>What is your level of interest in reconnecting in the future?<\/li>\n<li>What will they notice in a letter?<\/li>\n<li>What is important for you to express?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>During the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/en\/coaching.html\">coaching<\/a> session we co-created a letter and several alternatives.\u00a0Katrina opted to sit with what was developed and then mail the letter within one day.<\/p>\n<p>A note: Competency 9, as taught during coaching certification, is Designing Actions and includes nine sub-competencies with #8 being: \u201cHelps the client \u201cDo It Now\u201d during the coaching session, providing immediate support\u201d.\u00a0 The above is an example.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After working through the possibilities of her job offers and making her decision, Katrina wanted to work on negotiating her best deal.\u00a0 Per our initial &hellip; <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":8308,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_active":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_note":"","_monsterinsights_sitenote_category":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[470,471,16,40],"tags":[48,85,50,86,538,861,862,863],"class_list":["post-8307","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-coaching-resources","category-coaching-skills","category-coaching-stories","category-tools-and-techniques","tag-coach","tag-coach-training","tag-coaching","tag-coaching-certification","tag-coaching-session","tag-coaching-to-prepare-for-negotiating","tag-negotiating","tag-training-versus-consulting","latest_post"],"aioseo_notices":[],"aioseo_head":"\n\t\t<!-- All in One SEO 4.9.8 -
