{"id":8023,"date":"2018-10-25T11:03:32","date_gmt":"2018-10-25T11:03:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/coachingblog\/?p=8023"},"modified":"2025-04-09T21:13:14","modified_gmt":"2025-04-09T21:13:14","slug":"a-coaching-model-for-all","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/coachingblog\/a-coaching-model-for-all\/","title":{"rendered":"A Coaching Model for All"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One of the challenges in the coaching profession is a clear definition of coaching and ensuring that as coaching professionals we have one Code of Ethics and one set of standards for competencies and coach training.\u00a0 Multiple organizations with varying ethics and standards add to the confusion.<\/p>\n<p>The International Coach Federation, ICF, is the largest organization for coaching professionals and does work with the other coaching organizations.<\/p>\n<p>The ICF has a <a href=\"https:\/\/coachingfederation.org\/credentialing\/coaching-ethics\/icf-code-of-ethics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Code of Ethics<\/a>, standards for coach training, defined competencies for coaches, standards for credentialing, and standards for evaluating coaching competencies.<\/p>\n<p>In keeping with the ICF standards, the coaching model used at the Center for Coaching Certification, CCC, is training based on the ICF\u2019s 11 Core Competencies and Code of Ethics.<\/p>\n<p>To define the coaching model at CCC, here is the CCC Model:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-8024 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/coachingblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/A-Coaching-Model-for-All.jpg\" alt=\"A Coaching Model for All\" width=\"420\" height=\"101\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/coachingblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/A-Coaching-Model-for-All.jpg 482w, https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/coachingblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/A-Coaching-Model-for-All-300x72.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/coachingblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/A-Coaching-Model-for-All-249x60.jpg 249w, https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/coachingblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/A-Coaching-Model-for-All-480x116.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 420px) 100vw, 420px\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Competence: CCC programs build on your existing strengths with <a href=\"https:\/\/coachingfederation.org\/resource\/icf-core-competencies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ICFs Core Competencies<\/a> to upgrade your skills, expand awareness of the synergy between being and doing, create positive belief in the client\u2019s ability, and develop powerful coaching language.<\/li>\n<li>Confidence: CCC programs build the confidence of the coach in their abilities, provide tools for empowering client confidence, enhance confidence in the coaching process, and incorporate awareness of positivity to support confidence for the long term.<\/li>\n<li>Choice: CCC programs focus on the client being their own best expert thus empowering them to discover, decide, and strategize with the coach as their partner.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>So how do you choose which model and which coaching certification?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>First: Verify that the program is accredited by the International Coach Federation as either an Level 1 or Level 2 program. This tells you the training covers the Code of Ethics and the Core Competencies of a Coach.<\/li>\n<li>Second: Verify the school is a member of the Association of Coach Training Organizations.
