{"id":7879,"date":"2018-05-14T09:09:44","date_gmt":"2018-05-14T09:09:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/coachingblog\/?p=7879"},"modified":"2022-09-20T17:54:43","modified_gmt":"2022-09-20T17:54:43","slug":"wellness-coaching-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/coachingblog\/wellness-coaching-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Wellness Coaching"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Here is an example of a wellness coaching engagement using models, processes, and the coaching competencies.<\/p>\n<p>Visualize being hired for a wellness coaching relationship.\u00a0 The coachee is dealing with high blood pressure and wants to wear a size 14.\u00a0 In an introductory session, you learn about the coachee\u2019s situation.\u00a0 Based on the coachee\u2019s desire to immediately work on exercise and diet plans, you discuss using the STAR model: Situation, Task (or Thoughts), Action, Results.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-7050 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/coachingblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/personal-health-coaching-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/coachingblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/personal-health-coaching-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/coachingblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/personal-health-coaching-144x144.jpg 144w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After signing the agreement with the coachee, you move right into clarifying the situation and defining the coachee\u2019s tasks.\u00a0From there the conversation flows into the coachee listing specific action steps.\u00a0 In the next coaching session, you check in with the coachee and find that they are stuck in the same place.\u00a0 As the coach, you discuss different approaches with the coachee including a holistic approach.\u00a0 The coachee is feeling more comfortable with you as their coach and chooses to move to the holistic approach. Switching to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/en\/training.html\">CPC<\/a> process, you schedule a session for exploring the coachee\u2019s big picture.<\/p>\n<p>During the coaching session, the coachee becomes aware of influencing factors and competing priorities.\u00a0 You ask the coachee what they want their results to be and what might get in the way.\u00a0 The coachee shares that it is challenging for them to believe they can do it and to stay focused.\u00a0 In the next session, you provide the coachee with a summary of their goals, a tool they can use consistently to build confidence and as a reminder.<\/p>\n<p>As you continue coaching with questions and rephrasing, you work with the coachee to build their confidence. When the coachee is ready, they start again with their diet and exercise planning. When you ask how they want to manage <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/coachingblog\/accountability\/\">accountability<\/a>, they list things they will do and say they want you checking in too.\u00a0 In the following session, the coachee is excited to report they are making progress and you take time to acknowledge their success.<\/p>\n<p>Questions for this Coaching Scenario:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>What is happening for you now?<\/li>\n<li>What is your understanding of your circumstances?<\/li>\n<li>What do you want your diet to be?<\/li>\n<li>What is your current exercise routine?<\/li>\n<li>What do you want your exercise routine to be?<\/li>\n<li>What could challenge your following through?<\/li>\n<li>How will you move past the challenges?<\/li>\n<li>What is working well?<\/li>\n<li>What is holding you back?<\/li>\n<li>What is your understanding of a task focus versus a holistic approach in coaching?<\/li>\n<li>How will you measure your progress?<\/li>\n<li>What are your priorities?<\/li>\n<li>What influences you?<\/li>\n<li>What success have you experienced?<\/li>\n<li>What success do you want to create?<\/li>\n<li>How will you create your new successes?<\/li>\n<li>How will you move past challenges?<\/li>\n<li>How will you stay on track?<\/li>\n<li>How do you want to manage accountability?<\/li>\n<li>How do you want to stay motivated?<\/li>\n<li>How do you want to acknowledge progress?<\/li>\n<li>How do you want to celebrate success?<\/li>\n<li>When do you want to be celebrating your success?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Here is an example of a wellness coaching engagement using models, processes, and the coaching competencies.
