{"id":7698,"date":"2017-11-02T11:00:20","date_gmt":"2017-11-02T11:00:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/coachingblog\/?p=7698"},"modified":"2017-10-28T17:43:35","modified_gmt":"2017-10-28T17:43:35","slug":"using-your-coach-training-skills-with-colleagues","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/coachingblog\/using-your-coach-training-skills-with-colleagues\/","title":{"rendered":"Using Your Coach Training Skills with Colleagues"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Often meetings with colleagues have an added element: we want them to complete something without having the authority to enforce their follow-through.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/training.html\">Coach training<\/a> provides <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/coachingblog\/coaching-skills-for-leaders\/\">skills<\/a> that are applicable.\u00a0 This blog follows the format of the previous examples.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-7703\" src=\"https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/coachingblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/coaching-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To simplify the example, C is the person who completed the coach training.\u00a0 P is the person with whom they are talking.<\/p>\n<p>The scenario: colleagues are meeting.\u00a0 One colleague, C, wants another colleague, P, who is behind schedule, to follow-through with their area of work.<\/p>\n<p>C: How are you?<br \/>\nP: Fine.<\/p>\n<p>C: Good to hear.\u00a0 What is your status?<br \/>\nP: I told you, we are stuck because we cannot get the parts.<\/p>\n<p>C: Makes sense.\u00a0 What are the options?<br \/>\nP: Wait until the parts come in.<\/p>\n<p>C: Makes sense.\u00a0 What else is possible?<br \/>\nP: Putting pressure on the vendor.<\/p>\n<p>C: OK.\u00a0 What else?<br \/>\nP: Check with another department to see if they have extras we can have and when ours come in they will be replaced.<\/p>\n<p>C: OK.\u00a0 What else?<br \/>\nP: Ask the boss for an extension.<\/p>\n<p>C: OK.\u00a0 What else?<br \/>\nP: That\u2018s it.<\/p>\n<p>C: OK.\u00a0 Which approach do you want to use first?<br \/>\nP: Check with the other department.<\/p>\n<p>C: Then which idea is second?<br \/>\nP: Call the vendor and explain the problem.<\/p>\n<p>C: OK.\u00a0 And then?<br \/>\nP: Talk to the boss.<\/p>\n<p>C: Makes sense.\u00a0 How can I best support you?<br \/>\nP: Well, actually, if you go with me to the other department that will help.<\/p>\n<p>C: Absolutely.\u00a0 When do you want to go?<br \/>\nP: Let\u2019s walk over there right now.<\/p>\n<p>C: Perfect.\u00a0 Thank you.<br \/>\nP: Glad we are working together on this thank you.<\/p>\n<p>By accepting responses and asking for options, P applied coaching skills and moved the project forward.\u00a0 Graduates of coach training will recognize the questions and the words used.\u00a0 Coaching is a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/coachingblog\/learning-powerful-questioning-as-a-coach\/\">powerful<\/a> process because it is a positive and proactive way to empower others.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Often meetings with colleagues have an added element: we want them to complete something without having the authority to enforce their follow-through.\u00a0 Coach training provides &hellip;
