{"id":7676,"date":"2017-10-09T09:00:24","date_gmt":"2017-10-09T09:00:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/coachingblog\/?p=7676"},"modified":"2022-08-29T17:20:26","modified_gmt":"2022-08-29T17:20:26","slug":"accountability","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/coachingblog\/accountability\/","title":{"rendered":"Accountability"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>How do you define accountability?\u00a0 Accountability means having responsibilities, either to others or to ourselves.<\/p>\n<p>How do you manage accountability?\u00a0 As an individual, we are accountable to ourselves and to others.\u00a0 For others this typically involves work, personal, or family commitments.\u00a0 Because other people are involved they ask us about progress and follow through.\u00a0 For ourselves, effectively managing accountability includes knowing our priorities, values, and objectives.\u00a0 Next, we plan what we want to do and by when.\u00a0 Then we monitor our own progress with checklists, calendars, or by memory.\u00a0 This is where having a coach makes so much sense.<\/p>\n<p>Consider these questions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>When was the last time you really thought about your priorities?<\/li>\n<li>How often do you reflect on your values?<\/li>\n<li>When do you define your objectives?<\/li>\n<li>What is your process for planning?<\/li>\n<li>How effectively do you monitor your progress?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A coach who has completed their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\">coaching certification <\/a>effectively partners with you so that you do think through priorities, keep values front of mind, define objectives, plan actions, and monitor progress.\u00a0 An important part of accountability discussed in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/training.html\">coach training<\/a> is acknowledging progress and success.\u00a0 A coach takes the time to reflect and celebrate because this supports ongoing motivation.<\/p>\n<p>Having a coach is an opportunity to develop accountability to yourself and, bottom line, enhances your outcomes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>How do you define accountability?\u00a0 Accountability means having responsibilities, either to others or to ourselves.
