{"id":5292,"date":"2014-11-03T06:03:10","date_gmt":"2014-11-03T06:03:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/centerforcoachingcertification.com\/coachingblog\/?p=5292"},"modified":"2022-09-14T18:56:56","modified_gmt":"2022-09-14T18:56:56","slug":"coaching-challenges-and-solutions-10","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/coachingblog\/coaching-challenges-and-solutions-10\/","title":{"rendered":"Coaching Challenges and Solutions 10"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.CoachCert.com\/coachingblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/coaching-challenges-and-solutions-10.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-5320 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.CoachCert.com\/coachingblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/coaching-challenges-and-solutions-10.jpg\" alt=\"Coaching Challenges and Solutions 10\" width=\"178\" height=\"178\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/coachingblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/coaching-challenges-and-solutions-10.jpg 178w, https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/coachingblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/coaching-challenges-and-solutions-10-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/coachingblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/coaching-challenges-and-solutions-10-60x60.jpg 60w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 178px) 100vw, 178px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Coaches focus on how the client is best served.\u00a0 Sometimes this happens through a coach exploring options for different professional services with the client.\u00a0 Other times it occurs because the coach removes them self as a coach and provides options for different services.\u00a0 Sometimes a coach recommends a different coach that will better serve the client.\u00a0 A different possibility is that the client sees both a coach and another professional at the same time.\u00a0 In a case like that it is possible for the professionals and the client to sign an agreement together regarding communication between the professionals about the client to maximize the value of services.<\/p>\n<p>Foundational Information:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A coach is not a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.CoachCert.com\/coachingblog\/coaching-skills-for-mental-health-professionals\/\">mental health professional<\/a>, does not diagnose, and does not give advice.<\/li>\n<li>The<a href=\"https:\/\/coachingfederation.org\/ethics\/code-of-ethics\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Code of Ethics<\/a> for coaching does direct coaches to suggest or encourage a change of service providers as appropriate.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If <a href=\"https:\/\/www.CoachCert.com\/coachingblog\/about-coaching\/\">a coach<\/a> believes the client is better served by a different professional, here is an example of how to start the conversation: \u201cI am hearing something that is outside my area of expertise.\u00a0 As a coach I can help you explore options for getting the expertise.\u201d<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>What is your primary focus?<\/li>\n<li>What is your primary objective?<\/li>\n<li>What change will help you most?<\/li>\n<li>What are the possibilities with different professionals?<\/li>\n<li>How will you find the right professional?<\/li>\n<li>What is your process for choosing a professional service provider?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It is possible that a coach removes them self even when the client wants to continue because the coach is aware that they are unable to help the client appropriately.\u00a0 In that case one example of how to say it is, \u201cI am aware that my expertise is limited here and I am removing myself because what counts is you gaining the most value possible from your time and investment.\u201d\u00a0 Alternatively, \u201cBecause the objectives for you are the priority and I am finding I am not the right person to partner with you for what you want, I am removing myself.\u201d\u00a0 Often a coach will offer a <a href=\"http:\/\/findacertifiedcoach.com\/\">list of resources that includes other coaches<\/a> and\/or other directories for other professionals.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Coaches focus on how the client is best served.\u00a0 Sometimes this happens through a coach exploring options for different professional services with the client.\u00a0 Other &hellip;
