{"id":5144,"date":"2014-07-25T06:03:56","date_gmt":"2014-07-25T06:03:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/centerforcoachingcertification.com\/coachingblog\/?p=5144"},"modified":"2025-11-19T18:33:11","modified_gmt":"2025-11-19T18:33:11","slug":"make-it-count","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/coachingblog\/make-it-count\/","title":{"rendered":"Make It Count"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.CoachCert.com\/coachingblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/gi.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-5145\" src=\"https:\/\/www.CoachCert.com\/coachingblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/gi-224x300.jpg\" alt=\"Make It Count \" width=\"224\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>All our waking hours are a one-time deal. \u00a0Think about this fact for 30 seconds using some sort of timer \u2013your watch or a clock or an egg timer \u2013 and for those 30 seconds, think of nothing else but this fact.\u00a0 That done now realize that those 30 seconds are gone forever. \u00a0We do not get them back.\u00a0 Ever.\u00a0 Sobering thought isn\u2019t it?\u00a0 With that in mind, think of the intrinsic value of each day that is given to us.\u00a0 It is any wonder that it is called the<strong><em> Present<\/em><\/strong>?\u00a0Now think of the value of a simple 4-step plan that empowers us to make the most of every <strong><em>Present.\u00a0 <\/em><\/strong>What are <a href=\"http:\/\/www.centerforcoachingcertification.com\/video-testimonials.html\">the benefits<\/a> of a simple process for you to maximize the <strong><em>Present<\/em><\/strong>?<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.centerforcoachingcertification.com\/certified-professional-coach-training\/certification-program-schedule.html\">Plan ahead<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 Make a list of everything you wish to accomplish when you get your next <strong><em>\u2018Present\u2019<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0 Choose a time the night before, the morning of, or each week.\u00a0 Do it before stepping out to use (up) your <strong><em>present <\/em><\/strong>so you are accurately calculating its value and maximizing its benefit.<\/li>\n<li><strong>P<\/strong>rioritize \u2013 Now that you have your list of things to accomplish, assign them a level of priority.\u00a0 For example, use the A = High, B = Medium, C = Low method or use Stephen Covey\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=priority+matrix&amp;oq=priority+m&amp;aqs=chrome.0.69i59j69i57j0l4.6504j0j7&amp;sourceid=chrome&amp;es_sm=93&amp;ie=UTF-8\">2&#215;2 management matrix<\/a>. \u00a0Alternatively, use numbers or colors \u2013 whatever works for you best. \u00a0Remember, prioritizing is powerful.<\/li>\n<li><strong>P<\/strong>are it down \u2013 Start trimming your list down by following the hi-priority\/low pleasure method. \u00a0Specifically, tackle the hi-priority tasks first.\u00a0 Of the remaining tasks, first do the ones that are the least enjoyable thus leaving the best for last.\u00a0 Think of those as your \u2018task-dessert\u2019.<\/li>\n<li><strong>P<\/strong>raise yourself \u2013 End your day on a high note by validating yourself for what you accomplished during the day.\u00a0 If you were unable to complete all the tasks on your list, praise yourself for the ones you did get done (making a list of your achievements is often helpful).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Review your process and insights and then continue.\u00a0 The <strong><em>Present<\/em><\/strong> is yours.\u00a0 Make it count.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>All our waking hours are a one-time deal. \u00a0Think about this fact for 30 seconds using some sort of timer \u2013your watch or a clock &hellip;
