{"id":5036,"date":"2014-05-09T06:03:35","date_gmt":"2014-05-09T06:03:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/centerforcoachingcertification.com\/coachingblog\/?p=5036"},"modified":"2022-12-09T16:41:05","modified_gmt":"2022-12-09T16:41:05","slug":"coaching-process-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/coachingblog\/coaching-process-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Coaching Process"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In the previous blog post, model and process definitions were applied to coaching.\u00a0 The model of how the coaching relationship works was described.\u00a0 Now the coaching process is explained here.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to engaging in a coaching relationship, an introductory coaching session provides exposure to the coaching process and an idea of the benefits.\u00a0 This is done by giving the coachee an opportunity to explore interests, needs, and wants.\u00a0 During the introductory session, both the coach and the coachee are considering whether they are a good fit for working together.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.CoachCert.com\/coachingblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/coaching-process.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-5037 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.CoachCert.com\/coachingblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/coaching-process-300x189.jpg\" alt=\"coaching process\" width=\"300\" height=\"189\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After engaging in the coaching relationship including signing an agreement and reviewing the <a href=\"https:\/\/coachingfederation.org\/ethics\/code-of-ethics\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Code of Ethics<\/a>, an opening coaching session is a big-picture exploration that provides perspective and an understanding of the coachee\u2019s priorities, values, and influencing factors.<\/p>\n<p>In support of coachee success achieving their goals now and for the long term, in the second coaching session tools and techniques for maintaining focus and developing habits over the long-term are developed.<\/p>\n<p>By the third coaching session the coachee chooses the focus of the coaching conversation, deciding what they want to accomplish in that session.\u00a0 Coaching sessions are a time for checking on progress, exploration, strategy development, and action planning.\u00a0 The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/resources\/video-testimonials.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">coachee<\/a> may want to focus on skill development, change, strategizing, or making decisions.<\/p>\n<p>The coaching relationship supports the coachee developing new tools, skills, and processes for them self.\u00a0 While the length of the coaching relationship varies, the average time is twelve months.\u00a0 Prior to ending the regularly scheduled coaching sessions, plan a coaching session focused on how the coachee will maintain and build on their success.\u00a0 Plan a final debrief of the coaching relationship and coaching process.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In the previous blog post, model and process definitions were applied to coaching.\u00a0 The model of how the coaching relationship works was described.\u00a0 Now the &hellip;
