{"id":4994,"date":"2014-04-14T06:03:10","date_gmt":"2014-04-14T06:03:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/centerforcoachingcertification.com\/coachingblog\/?p=4994"},"modified":"2022-09-09T14:40:16","modified_gmt":"2022-09-09T14:40:16","slug":"measuring-coaching-results","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/coachingblog\/measuring-coaching-results\/","title":{"rendered":"Measuring Coaching Results"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!-- [if gte mso 9]><xml>\n<o:OfficeDocumentSettings>\n<o:RelyOnVML\/>\n<o:AllowPNG\/>\n<\/o:OfficeDocumentSettings>\n<\/xml><![endif]--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.CoachCert.com\/coachingblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/glasses.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-4996\" src=\"https:\/\/www.CoachCert.com\/coachingblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/glasses-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"internal coaching program\" width=\"228\" height=\"171\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/coachingblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/glasses-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/coachingblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/glasses-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/coachingblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/glasses-80x60.jpg 80w, https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/coachingblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/glasses-470x352.jpg 470w, https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/coachingblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/glasses.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 228px) 100vw, 228px\" \/><\/a>Internal coaching programs measure the competencies of coaches and the results of the coaching program.\u00a0 This creates the opportunity for ensuring the appropriate training is in place and defining the value of the program.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/training.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Coach training<\/a> ensures a clear understanding of the role of the coach and develops coaching competencies.\u00a0 According to the <a href=\"http:\/\/coachfederation.org\/\">International Coaching Federation<\/a>, the ICF, there are <a href=\"https:\/\/coachingfederation.org\/credentials-and-standards\/core-competencies\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Core Competencies<\/a> within four groupings:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Setting the Foundation \u2013 ethics and agreements<\/li>\n<li>Co-creating the Relationship \u2013 trust and presence<\/li>\n<li>Communication \u2013 listening, questioning, direct communication<\/li>\n<li>Facilitating Learning and Results \u2013 awareness, design actions, goal setting, accountability<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>How are coaching competencies measured?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assessment following training \u2013 completed by the trainer<\/li>\n<li>Observation by the coach\u2019s coach \u2013 managed through the program administration<\/li>\n<li>Feedback from the constituency \u2013 surveys of coaches, coachees, those working with the coachees<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>How are the results of the coaching program measured?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Qualitative measures include: employee engagement, skill development, enhanced workplace relationships, employee wellness, and company culture.<\/li>\n<li>Quantitative measures include talent retention, turnover, productivity, and sales (based on the numbers in company reports from before and after the program implementation).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As a best practice, tie the measure to the program goals.<\/p>\n<p>Funding the measure of coaching competencies and program effectiveness validates the program and leads to consistent benefit.\u00a0 It is possible to measure results on a tighter budget.\u00a0 For example:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Use a survey tool such as Survey Monkey for a qualitative measure.<\/li>\n<li>Ask program participants to complete evaluation forms and compile results.<\/li>\n<li>Use company reports on turnover, productivity, and sales from before and after.<\/li>\n<li>Invite intern students to develop and complete a measurement.<\/li>\n<li>Work with coaching organizations that will measure results.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coach-123.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">coaching program design and management<\/a>, as well as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/training.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">coach training<\/a>, impact the results.\u00a0 Adding to this blog series on coaching program design and management, the next blog explores coach training.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Internal coaching programs measure the competencies of coaches and the results of the coaching program.\u00a0 This creates the opportunity for ensuring the appropriate training is &hellip;
