{"id":4851,"date":"2014-01-22T06:03:24","date_gmt":"2014-01-22T06:03:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/centerforcoachingcertification.com\/coachingblog\/?p=4851"},"modified":"2022-09-13T13:30:08","modified_gmt":"2022-09-13T13:30:08","slug":"coaching-to-apply-new-awareness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/coachingblog\/coaching-to-apply-new-awareness\/","title":{"rendered":"Coaching to Apply New Awareness"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.CoachCert.com\/coachingblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/106.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-4852\" src=\"https:\/\/www.CoachCert.com\/coachingblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/106-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Coaching to Apply New Awareness\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/coachingblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/106-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/coachingblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/106-480x480.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a>Following the coaching session discussed in the previous blog, when Roberta and her coach Lisa again met, Roberta shared with Lisa what she learned from reading about coaching session.\u00a0 Lisa provided perspective from her own <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/training.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">coach training<\/a> on how different people communicate differently based on, among other things, learning styles.<\/p>\n<p>Roberta stated that she felt she was still missing the foundational links to her own interactions.\u00a0 Lisa and Roberta discussed options for Roberta to learn more about the communication process based on learning styles.\u00a0 The options Roberta thought of included reading, online research, taking a class, and hiring a consultant.\u00a0 Lisa shared that if Roberta wanted, she could <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">switch to the role of a trainer<\/a> for 10-15 minutes and provide some information, and then switch back to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/resources\/faqs\/is-coaching-right-for-me-take-the-quiz.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">coaching<\/a>.\u00a0 Roberta appreciated this option because of her own hectic schedule.\u00a0 Lisa provided some basic insight on how different learning styles process information, and how vocabulary is often based on the learning style.\u00a0 Back in the coaching role, Lisa asked Roberta what thoughts she had on the information.\u00a0 Roberta shared that she was realizing her own preference was auditory <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/resources.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">learning<\/a> and that it seemed her direct reports were either visual or kinesthetic learners.<\/p>\n<p>Building on the awareness created through Roberta\u2019s research, the perspective Lisa provided, and the mini-training, Lisa asked Roberta her ideas for how to apply the information.\u00a0 Roberta thought out loud about how her own learning style was a factor in engaging her direct reports.\u00a0 Lisa asked Roberta how she could express herself in a way her direct reports could understand.\u00a0 Roberta asked Lisa if together they could create vocabulary lists based on learning styles for future reference.\u00a0 The vocabulary list became a tool Roberta used starting in her next meeting.\u00a0 Roberta later reported back to Lisa that she was very cognizant of the difference in the conversation because of the change in her word choices.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Following the coaching session discussed in the previous blog, when Roberta and her coach Lisa again met, Roberta shared with Lisa what she learned from &hellip;
