{"id":4768,"date":"2013-12-09T06:03:19","date_gmt":"2013-12-09T06:03:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/centerforcoachingcertification.com\/coachingblog\/?p=4768"},"modified":"2022-09-09T15:09:50","modified_gmt":"2022-09-09T15:09:50","slug":"co-creating-tools-when-coaching","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/coachingblog\/co-creating-tools-when-coaching\/","title":{"rendered":"Co-creating Tools When Coaching"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Coaching supports meaningful change.\u00a0 Often creating change is facilitated by specific techniques and \/ or tools.\u00a0 Coaches learn a multitude of different techniques <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/training.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">during coach training<\/a>.\u00a0 By using the techniques, the coach models them for their client.\u00a0 Often the coaches share what they are doing, being completely transparent about the technique.\u00a0 As a result clients learn many of the techniques and in turn apply them in different situations.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.CoachCert.com\/coachingblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/47.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-4769\" src=\"https:\/\/www.CoachCert.com\/coachingblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/47.jpg\" alt=\"Co-creating Tools When Coaching\" width=\"230\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>For example, imagine a client is dealing with a major conflict.\u00a0 In coach training at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Center for Coaching Certification<\/a>, the process for managing conflict is taught.\u00a0 So a trained coach, in support of the client, uses the techniques and process to frame questions for the client.\u00a0 Specifically, the Coach will first ask the client to describe what is happening now.\u00a0 Then, the coach will ask, how would the person you are in conflict with describe it?\u00a0 Then the coach will have the client list all of the issues both from their perspective and what they think the other person would say.\u00a0 The coach then works with the client to brainstorm multiple options.\u00a0 During the brainstorming, the coach asks them what options they think the other person might suggest too.\u00a0 After that, the coach asks the client which of the options will work for everyone.\u00a0 Finally, the coach asks the client for their action steps.\u00a0 Ideally the client has new awareness of different perspectives plus of different options.\u00a0 The client may apply the conflict management approach modeled by the coach in developing their strategy too.\u00a0 The client and the coach may talk through the specific steps of this technique so the client is prepared for using the steps in their conversation with the other person.<\/p>\n<p>This is just one example of how techniques are utilized by the coach for the coaching process and these techniques are in turn used by the client as they apply their strategies.\u00a0 What is another example you can share?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Coaching supports meaningful change.\u00a0 Often creating change is facilitated by specific techniques and \/ or tools.\u00a0 Coaches learn a multitude of different techniques during coach &hellip;
