\"training\"<\/a>It is noteworthy that some resist the idea of training for coaches stating either that it will stifle the coach or that it is unnecessary.\u00a0 Consider this: hundreds of years ago there was no requirement for doctors to have medical training.\u00a0 Does training stifle their work?\u00a0 Is it unnecessary?\u00a0 Alternatively, are you interested in hiring an untrained financial planner because they will be more creative and training is unimportant anyway?\u00a0 Is training necessary for mental health professionals, HR professionals, or engineers?\u00a0 Does it stifle their creativity?\u00a0 Of course training<\/a> makes sense for a professional coach.\u00a0 Training supports creativity because once the foundation is in place each coach creates a unique approach.<\/p>\n

What is the purpose of training?\u00a0 Consider training on the topic of ethics.\u00a0 It seems this is a given and most feel they are ethical.\u00a0 Do they know what they don\u2019t know?\u00a0 For example, how does confidentiality apply in coaching when there is a difference between what a sponsor (the employer paying for coaching) and the person being coached want?\u00a0 How long does a coach keep records?\u00a0 Training provides information on ethics.\u00a0 In the Certified Professional Coach class there is a discussion and specific examples are provided.\u00a0 There is an opportunity to ask questions.\u00a0 The complete Code of Ethics<\/a> is reviewed.<\/p>\n
