the context is positive and the services provided are appropriate for the individual.<\/p>\n<p>For example, I currently work with an ICF certified coach.\u00a0 From the first day, the dynamics of the relationship were established:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A complementary \u201cvetting session\u201d determined if we were a good personality match.<\/li>\n<li>The expectations and each person\u2019s role were discussed.<\/li>\n<li>The timeline and remuneration were defined.<\/li>\n<li>A written contract was given to me to read and sign.\u00a0 The contract included topics such as fees, confidentiality, and the true nature of the coaching relationship was explained &#8211; that it was NOT based on therapy, and\/or the diagnosis or treatment of mental disorders, etc&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In short, nothing was held back, and there was full disclosure.<\/p>\n<p>The ICF (International Coaching Federation) is recognized throughout the world for establishing and upholding standards and ethics for the profession.\u00a0 It is critical that individuals who are seeking a career in coaching <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/training.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">obtain ICF training<\/a> and accreditation.\u00a0 In addition they must also educate their potential clients that coaching is <b>not<\/b> psychotherapy, consulting, training, or mentoring so the true nature of a legitimate coaching relationship is clarified;
