{"id":3544,"date":"2012-08-27T06:03:45","date_gmt":"2012-08-27T06:03:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/centerforcoachingcertification.com\/coachingblog\/?p=3544"},"modified":"2012-08-14T18:45:40","modified_gmt":"2012-08-14T18:45:40","slug":"learning-styles-in-coaching","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/coachingblog\/learning-styles-in-coaching\/","title":{"rendered":"Learning Styles in Coaching"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.CoachCert.com\/coachingblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/vak.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-3545\" title=\"learning styles\" src=\"https:\/\/www.CoachCert.com\/coachingblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/vak.jpg\" alt=\"learning styles\" width=\"153\" height=\"151\" \/><\/a>How a client learns information, whether by seeing, hearing, or doing, influences the approach for a coach when communicating and asking questions.\u00a0 A <a href=\"http:\/\/www.centerforcoachingcertification.com\/program-overview.html\">coach<\/a> starts by identifying which learning style a client is using, then asks questions with words that work for the client.\u00a0 For example, when a client is learning visually, then the coach asks them what they \u2018see\u2019 or to \u2018paint a picture\u2019 of what they want to accomplish.\u00a0 For an auditory question, the coach asks the client for \u2018key words\u2019 to describe it.\u00a0 A client that learns by doing processes based on what they feel, so a coach will ask how it \u2018feels\u2019 to achieve the results.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to supporting the communication process in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.centerforcoachingcertification.com\/\">coaching<\/a>, recognizing learning styles is also a tool to create awareness.\u00a0 Specifically, when exploring options, after asking questions in the client\u2019s preferred learning style, the coach then moves to questions using words for the other learning styles and expands the thinking of the client.<\/p>\n<p>As a bonus, when a coach asks the client to describe their ideal outcome in terms of what they see, hear, and feel then the description is fuller.\u00a0 This means it is real and achievable to the client and they are motivated to follow through.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>How a client learns information, whether by seeing, hearing, or doing, influences the approach for a coach when communicating and asking questions.\u00a0 A coach starts &hellip;
