A \u201cD\u201d will often tell you \u201cyes\u201d or \u201cno\u201d.<\/li>\n<li>You can easily lose the attention and\/or interest of a \u201cD\u201d by presenting your information too slowly or by spending too much time DISCussing minute details.<\/li>\n<li>When you draw up a commitment letter, don\u2019t spend too much time on points the \u201cD\u201d may not care about.<\/li>\n<li>Present them with options and probable outcomes. \u201cD\u2019s\u201d like to balance quality with cost considerations, so offer options with supporting evidence and leave the final decision to them.<\/li>\n<li>We have found that it is effective to present a \u201cD\u201d with two or three options. Provide a short summation of each option, along with your recommendation of each.<\/li>\n<li>While the \u201cD\u201d is reviewing your proposal, don\u2019t interrupt them. The odds are high that they will find an option that appeals to them and closing the deal themselves.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Influence \u2013 High \u201cI\u201d Style<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<li>Show how your product would increase the \u201cI\u2019s\u201d prestige, image, or recognition.<\/li>\n<li>Be open and ask, \u201cWhere do we go from here?\u201d or \u201cWhat\u2019s our next step?\u201d<\/li>\n<li>If they like something, they buy it on the spot (all other things being equal).<\/li>\n<li>You may have to slow them down because they also tend to overbuy and\/or buy before weighing all the ramifications; behaviors that both of you may live to regret.<\/li>\n<li>\u201cI\u2019s\u201d dislike paperwork and details so they are likely to hesitate, and even procrastinate, when it comes to spending the time required on a contract.<\/li>\n<li>Have a written agreement prepared due to their tendency to be unclear about procedures, responsibilities, and expectations.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure that you agree on the specifics in writing or, later on, you can almost bet on some degree of misunderstanding and\/or disappointment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Steadiness \u2013 High \u201cS\u201d Style<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<li>\u201cS\u2019s\u201d are slower, deductive decision-makers who listen to the opinions of others and take the time to solicit those opinions before deciding. So, make a specific action plan and provide personal guidance, direction, or assurance as required for pursuing the safest, most practical course to follow. Arm them with literature, case studies, and any documentation available, because they\u2019ll be \u201cselling\u201d your proposal to others within their organization.<\/li>\n<li>When you do reach an agreement, carefully explore any potential areas of misunderstanding or dissatisfaction.<\/li>\n<li>\u201cS\u2019s\u201d like guarantees that new actions will involve a minimum risk, so offer assurances and support.<\/li>\n<li>Try not to rush them, but do provide gentle, helpful nudges to help them decide (when needed).<\/li>\n<li>Involve them by personalizing the plan and showing how it will directly benefit them and others.<\/li>\n<li>When asking for a commitment, guide them toward a choice if they seem indecisive.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Conscientious \u2013 High \u201cC\u201d Style<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<li>Emphasize accuracy, value, quality, and reliability.<\/li>\n<li>Provide logical options with appropriate documentation and time to analyze their options.<\/li>\n<li>They\u2019re uncomfortable with snap decisions and when they say they will think about it, they mean it!<\/li>\n<li>If pressured by people or excessive demands, they may use \u201cI\u2019ll think about it,\u201d as a stalling tactic.<\/li>\n<li>\u201cC\u2019s\u201d are educated, logical, comparative \u201cshoppers.\u201d Know your competition so you can point out your advantages relative to the competition in a factual, professional way. Mention your company\u2019s strengths as you suggest <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/resources\/faqs\/commonly-asked-questions-with-answers.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">questions<\/a>, they may want to ask your competitors that will allow them to do a comparative cost-benefit analysis of the options and solutions.<\/li>\n<li>Be willing to explore the subject of a conditional, \u201cpilot program\u201d as a way of reducing their risk.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Maintaining rapport in the assuring stage \u2013 how to assure:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Dominance \u2013 High \u201cD\u201d Style<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<li>\u201cD\u2019s\u201d usually do not look for personal relationships at work due to their focus on accomplishing tasks.<\/li>\n<li>With \u201cD\u2019s,\u201d do not rely on past sales to ensure future purchases. Follow up to find out if they have any complaints or problems with your product. If they do have complaints, address them immediately.<\/li>\n<li>Impress upon your customer your intent to stand behind your product or service.<\/li>\n<li>Stress that you will follow-up without taking much of their time.<\/li>\n<li>You may also want to offer a money-back guarantee.<\/li>\n<li>Whatever the promise, make sure you deliver everything you offer!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Influence \u2013 High \u201cI\u201d Style<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<li>\u201cI\u2019s\u201d frequently buy before they\u2019re sold which may lead to buyers\u2019 remorse.<\/li>\n<li>\u201cI\u2019s\u201d can benefit from ongoing reminders that they have made the right decision.<\/li>\n<li>Reinforce their decision by giving plenty of assistance immediately after the sale.<\/li>\n<li>Be certain they actually use your product, or they may get frustrated from incorrect usage and either put it away or return it for a refund.<\/li>\n<li>Since they mingle with so many people, you can even ask \u201cI\u2019s\u201d if they\u2019d be willing to share their glowing testimonials about you and your product with others.<\/li>\n<li>If they are feeling smart for using your product or service, most \u201cI\u2019s\u201d will give you more referrals than the other three styles combined!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Steadiness \u2013 High \u201cS\u201d Style<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<li>Follow-up consistently with an \u201cS\u201d.<\/li>\n<li>Give them your personal guarantee that you will remain in touch, keep things running smoothly, and be available on an \u201cas needed\u201d basis.<\/li>\n<li>\u201cS\u2019s\u201d like to think they have a special relationship with you; that you are more than just another business acquaintance; they prefer a continuing, predictable relationship.<\/li>\n<li>Give them your cell number, along with an invitation to call you any time with any concern. They will rarely use it but will feel secure knowing it\u2019s available to them.<\/li>\n<li>They dislike one-time deals, so follow up to maintain your relationship.<\/li>\n<li>Impersonal, computerized follow-up is not very appealing to \u201cS\u2019s\u201d, so continue building your relationship with low-key, personalized attention, and assistance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Conscientious \u2013 High \u201cC\u201d Style<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<li>Set a specific timetable for when and how you will measure success with the \u201cC\u201d.
