The length of a business plan varies and because creating one is for your own planning, include the information and level of detail that supports your focus and action steps.\u00a0 The following is an overview of a more traditional business plan that you can tweak to design your own.<\/p>\n

\nc.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Competition – who are your competitors and what do they offer?
\nd.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Strategy \u2013 how will you reach your audience and make the sale?<\/p>\n

7.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Operating Plan<\/strong>
\na.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Location \u2013 describe office set-up and security.
\nb.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Production and Inventory \u2013 what is your plan for developing products and how much will you keep on hand?
\nc.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Service Scheduling \u2013 how and when will you schedule with clients?
\nd.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Payment Policies and Processes \u2013 detail what forms of payment are used and also how and when clients pay.<\/p>\n

8.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Financial Plan<\/strong>
\na.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Financial Statements \u2013 budget, budget versus actual, profit and loss, income and expense.
\nb.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Start-up Expenses \u2013 initial fees for licensing, website, etc.
\nc.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Regular Expenses \u2013 include set monthly amounts, variable monthly amounts, and periodic expenses.
\nd.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Capitalization \u2013 will you capitalize large furniture or electronic purchases?
\ne.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Cashflow Projection \u2013 consider when income will be received and when expenses will be paid.<\/p>\n

Which of the above you include is based on what serves your focus and planning.\u00a0 Similarly, the level of detail is also based on what will help you move forward.\u00a0 What is important is that you develop a plan for yourself that keeps you focused and moving forward.<\/p>\n
