our regular coaching blog will be published on Thursday\u2019s.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As a value add in this blog series, the focus here is a how to guide for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coach-123.com\/coaching-services\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">coaching<\/a>, praising, and challenging each of the DISC styles.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Dominance \u2013 High \u201cD\u201d Style<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<li>Talk in terms of bottom line and achievement<\/li>\n<li>Zero in on results with quick benefit statements<\/li>\n<li>Invite the analysis and brainstorm solutions for them to approve or reject<\/li>\n<li>Explore choices backed with enough data and analysis to make an intelligent decision<\/li>\n<li>Use Feedback Questions to assist in clarifying the details and time frames<\/li>\n<li>Use Acknowledge-Clarify-Respond when encountering resistance<\/li>\n<li>Let them take the lead<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Influence \u2013 High \u201cI\u201d Style<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<li>Interact as you perspective with them; use Feedback Questions to engage them<\/li>\n<li>Show that you are interested in them; let them talk and be enthusiastic<\/li>\n<li>Illustrate ideas and perspectives with stories and emotional descriptions that can relate to their interests<\/li>\n<li>Use Feedback Questions to assist in summarizing details and direct these toward mutually agreeable objectives and action steps<\/li>\n<li>Invite ideas that help them to increase their prestige, image, or recognition<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Steadiness \u2013 High \u201cS\u201d Style<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<li>Show how you will support and assist<\/li>\n<li>Use Feedback Questions to assist in presenting new ideas in a non-threatening way<\/li>\n<li>Clearly define their roles and goals plus include specific expectations of them<\/li>\n<li>Explain why change may be necessary and how long the changes will take<\/li>\n<li>Show the appropriate steps to follow<\/li>\n<li>Use Acknowledge-Clarify-Respond when encountering resistance<\/li>\n<li>Avoid rushing them and offer personal, concrete assurances<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Conscientious \u2013 High \u201cC\u201d Style<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<li>Invite review of written data<\/li>\n<li>Value facts, specifications and data<\/li>\n<li>Allow them to think, inquire, and check before they make decisions<\/li>\n<li>Use Feedback Questions to assist in providing explanations and rationale<\/li>\n<li>Explore the pros and cons and the complete story<\/li>\n<li>Ask about follow-through<\/li>\n<li>Use Acknowledge-Clarify-Respond when encountering resistance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>How to praise the four styles<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Dominance \u2013 High \u201cD\u201d Style<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<li>Be specific enough for them to feel comfortable, but don\u2019t overwhelm<\/li>\n<li>Focus praise on their accomplishments, results, and achievements<\/li>\n<li>Ask them specifically how they like to receive praise<\/li>\n<li>Get to the point<\/li>\n<li>Give them your time and attention<\/li>\n<li>Use Coaching Moments to \u201cpraise in the moment\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Influence \u2013 High \u201cI\u201d Style<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<li>I\u2019s are concerned about what others think about them<\/li>\n<li>Give positive recognition and reinforcement<\/li>\n<li>Use specific praise, including people, when appropriate<\/li>\n<li>Ask them how they like to receive praise<\/li>\n<li>Be excited and enthusiastic<\/li>\n<li>Support them looking good<\/li>\n<li>Give them your attention, time, and presence<\/li>\n<li>Use Coaching Moments to praise \u201cin the moment\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.assessments24x7.com\/assessments\/disc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Steadiness<\/strong><\/a><strong> \u2013 High \u201cS\u201d Style<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<li>Ask them how they like to receive praise<\/li>\n<li>Take into consideration their motivation to seek security and please other people<\/li>\n<li>Develop trust, friendship, and credibility at a relatively slow pace<\/li>\n<li>Offer personal, concrete assurances<\/li>\n<li>Communicate in a consistent manner on a regular basis; compliment progress<\/li>\n<li>Use Coaching Moments to \u201cpraise in the moment\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Conscientious \u2013 High \u201cC\u201d Style<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<li>Don\u2019t praise with too much enthusiasm<\/li>\n<li>Ask them how they like to receive praise<\/li>\n<li>Be specific and clear on the reasons for giving them praise<\/li>\n<li>Don\u2019t try to impress them<\/li>\n<li>Match their low emotional tone<\/li>\n<li>Use Coaching Moments to \u201cpraise in the moment\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>How to challenge the four styles<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Dominance \u2013 High \u201cD\u201d Style<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<li>Challenge them to more realistically gauge risks<\/li>\n<li>Help them to use more caution and deliberation before deciding<\/li>\n<li>If appropriate, help them to more effectively follow rules and procedures<\/li>\n<li>Encourage them to look for ways to recognize others and solicit their opinions and contributions<\/li>\n<li>Ask them to give others the reasons for decisions<\/li>\n<li>Help them to give more attention and respond to others\u2019 emotions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Influence \u2013 High \u201cI\u201d Style<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<li>Help them to prioritize and organize<\/li>\n<li>Encourage them to see tasks through to completion<\/li>\n<li>Work to view people versus tasks more objectively<\/li>\n<li>Help them to avoid overuse of giving and taking advice<\/li>\n<li>Challenge them to keep track of details<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Steadiness \u2013 High \u201cS\u201d Style<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<li>Work with them to develop shortcuts and eliminate unnecessary steps<\/li>\n<li>Help them accept sincere praise and feel appreciated<\/li>\n<li>Show them there is often more than one approach to take<\/li>\n<li>Challenge them to develop an acceptance to some risks and changes<\/li>\n<li>Encourage them to speak up and share their thoughts and feelings<\/li>\n<li>Work with them to modify their inclination to do what others tell them<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Conscientious \u2013 High \u201cC\u201d Style<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<li>Ask them to share their knowledge and expertise with others<\/li>\n<li>Develop a balance between sensitivity to people and task accomplishment<\/li>\n<li>Encourage them not to take themselves \u201ctoo seriously and critically\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Challenge them to develop priorities and not categorize most items as \u201chigh priority\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Help them to be transparent in sharing their plans for achieving their goals with you<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.coachcert.com\/training.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Coach<\/a> them on praising others, when appropriate<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the next blog, tips on leaving voice messages or sending emails are provided.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Published with Permission from Assessments 24\/7.
