Coaching Types<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Coaching is a professional service that offers value both professionally and personally.\u00a0 It is of benefit to people in all walks of life.\u00a0 The process of coaching<\/a> is consistent across different areas of focus.\u00a0 The areas of focus determine the dominant topic of conversation.\u00a0 There are types and areas of coaching and as you go deeper there are many niche areas within each type and area of coaching.\u00a0 As a starting point, here are a few of the more commonly recognized types of coaching:
\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Academic \u2013 encompasses three areas of coaching: administrators as leaders, teachers on efficacy, students for results or opportunities.
\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Addiction \u2013 supports people choosing treatment and successful recovery.
\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Business \u2013 supports small to mid-sized businesses on growth, stability, scalability, and sustainability.
\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Career \u2013 focuses on career which can mean starting a career, finding a job, advancing to the next level, changing careers, or retiring from a career.
\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Executive \u2013 working with professionals in a corporate setting\u00a0including leaders, high potentials, and executives.
\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Health \u2013 health care service includes coaching professionals working in the field and health coaching for the individuals accessing care.
\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Holistic \u2013 an over-arching term indicating the coaching works with the whole being of a client and may incorporate somatic, gestalt, ontological, or other techniques.
\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Leadership \u2013 supporting new, emerging, and established leaders in their role.
\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Life \u2013 addresses personal interests including lifestyle, personal goals, managing ADHD<\/a>, dating, relationships, grief, relocation, transitions, and more.
\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Wellness \u2013 encompasses balance, well-being, health, fitness, nutrition, and more.<\/p>\n

In addition to these types or areas of coaching, there are different certifications or credentials the coach earns as they develop their coaching competency.\u00a0 Coach training<\/a> is available in hundreds of different organizations or schools.\u00a0 Ideally, seek accredited coach training.\u00a0 At the Center for Coaching Certification, the designations earned for each of the programs include:
\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 CPC = Certified Professional Coach
\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 CMC = Certified Master Coach
\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 CCS = Certified Advanced Coach<\/a> which covers the following:
\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 CAC-AS = Certified Advanced Coach \u2013 Academic Specialist
\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 CAC-BS = Certified Advanced Coach \u2013 Business Specialist
\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 CAC-CS = Certified Advanced Coach \u2013 Career Specialist
\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 CAC-ES = Certified Advanced Coach \u2013 Executive Specialist
\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 CAC-LS = Certified Advanced Coach \u2013 Life Specialist

The International Coaching Federation<\/a>, ICF, accredits coach training although they do not do coach training.\u00a0 ICF does offer credentialing:
