1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Start with practicing coaching techniques in everyday conversations \u2013 much as happens during coach training.\u00a0 Practice recognizing and adjusting to different styles in your conversations.\u00a0 Practice the listening techniques, clear and direct language, and the coaching questions.\u00a0 Practice inviting full descriptions of desired outcomes.\u00a0 Practice with goals defined by the desired outcome, internal motivation, and proactive planning.
\n2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Peer Coaching \u2013 much as the coaching practicum in class helps, it is a great option outside of class.\u00a0 Stay connected with colleagues and connect with more colleagues through our online groups.\u00a0 Create a barter or exchange of services so you can count it as paid hours.
\n3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 After completing the first program, the CPC<\/a>, offer a \u201cgreat deal for a limited number in exchange for using a specific process and testimonials\u201d and then set your discounted price and let your network know about the opportunity.
\n4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Keep your network informed about what you are doing.\u00a0 It is funny that sometimes coaches hesitate because they don\u2019t want to sell.\u00a0 Keeping people informed isn\u2019t selling.\u00a0 If they or someone they know is interested, they will reach out.\u00a0 If not, that is ok too \u2013 they are curious about what you are doing!
\n5.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Website and social media \u2013 a website is most commonly visited after someone hears about you as a coach so they can investigate.\u00a0 Social media is one way for people to hear about you \u2013 so post fun facts, interesting insights, and share information about coaching.
\n6.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Public Speaking and Publishing \u2013 one of the top sources for new clients is getting in front of new audiences.\u00a0 Look for in-person events, opportunities to give online webinars, or places to submit articles.\u00a0 Speaking at professional membership events is a fabulous opportunity.\u00a0 Being a guest presenter in a webinar, a podcast<\/a> guest, or a guest blogger is a way to get in front of different audiences and demonstrate your expertise.
\n7.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Coach Directories \u2013 online searchable directories both serve to showcase you and to link to your website so that it gets seen.\u00a0 The Center for Coaching Certification<\/a> offers one for graduates only and ICF offers one for all credentialed coaches.
