Make Goals Real

describe the outcomeThe O in GOALS = Opportunities

Buy-in is one of those buzz words – what does it really mean?  A business, life, or executive coach realizes that buy-in is essential for long-term results.  In powerful goal setting for results, this is as simple as an individual buying in to their own goals.  Of course this does require moving past limitations and really exploring to decide what you want and the opportunities for achieving it.  Now take this a step further – dive deeper.

In coach training, coaches learn that when you describe your ideal outcome fully, you create the reality of it for yourself.  Take a moment now and work through this process.  Have the list of goals you created from the earlier posts in this blog series. If you have a coach they take notes or you write your responses to the following:

  • Describe your life after achieving what you want.
  • What will you see?
  • Imagine the expression on your face – describe it.
  • What do you see around you?
  • What do you hear?
  • What are you saying to yourself?
  • How does it feel?
  • What does it mean to you?

As the responses are explored, continue to ask, “What else?” with each of the above to ensure it is explored and described fully.

As the ideal outcome is described fully in terms of what is seen, heard, and felt it becomes increasingly real.  Coaches realize this creates buy-in and when you experience it you will find that to be true.  This solidifies the possibilities in your opportunities.
